Our Sweet Valeria's Quinceañera

Where to even begin telling the story of our sweet Valeria, and how she has blossomed before our eyes.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Valeria since she was in second grade. I remember her adorable dimples, sweet smile, studious ways, and lovely personality. I'm so happy to say that not much has changed about her kind ways other than the fact that she's now 15 years old and going to be a junior in high school! And my, how she's transformed from the adorable little girl into an amazing young lady that she is today.

I remember her running around in pony tails at the elementary school where her mom and I both worked.  While we were busy grading and getting ready for he next day, Valeria spent her afternoons in our classrooms completing her homework or helping us teachers with various tasks. Whatever she does, she always did it willingly and with a smile. She takes honors classes in high school, plays hard for the city's soccer league, enjoys photography and much more. In other words, Valeria is an amazing student, athlete, and artist. She's a one of a kind girl, with a heart of gold too.

So when her mom asked me of being the photographer for her only daughter's quinceañera, I was both honored and humbled. We've been counting down the years, then months and finally days to her big day. Then that day finally came.

It was a beautiful cloudy morning on Sat. June 27, 2015 with blue-grey skies and soft white blankets of clouds. The weather was great too- not too hot either for a late June day. It couldn't have been a more perfect day for Valeria's Quince. My husband and I waited patiently for their arrival. Before long, there she was... This amazingly gorgeous shining star in her beautiful coral princess-style ball gown. She looked absolutely breathtaking. It took everything in me not to get teary eyed as I hugged this once little girl who is now such a lovely young lady. She had the biggest smile on her face all morning. During the ceremony, she was ever so graceful as she read the summons &  fulfilled her rite of passage in front of family and friends. Mom and dad, as well as everyone else, appeared to be over joyed with love and proudness as they watched her.  Even her little brother did his best to do his brotherly duties in such a responsible way. It is easy to see that although they're six years apart, they sure have a great relationship.   We've always told their parents just how great of a job they've done with their kids, and how great it has been to watch them grow.

Valeria- we hope you know just how deeply proud we are of you, whether you're earning straight A's in school, running through the soccer field, reading quickly through your Divergent books or being the amazing person that you are. We look forward to seeing all the amazing things you will continue to accomplish. Dream Big mija. You are dauntless.  The sky is the limit for you!
