Turning 2 is such fun!

The adorable Miss C. seems to get cuter and cuter with each time I get to photograph her. Hard to believe this independent, energetic and spunky little girl just turned two!

Little Man D turns one and prefers chicken to cake...

How in  the world does a whole year pass by so quickly?! How did this little guy go from a tiny little baby to a handsome little one year old. I've had the extreme honor of capturing, not only Little Man D's first year, but the family's first born.  As I go through his photographs, it's amazing to see how much he's changed - he doesn't look anything like he did in his newborn session, but he was the perfect little newborn to photograph - and my first!  He was patient, adorable and snugly, and did I mention patient? His little personality blossomed with every milestone, but the two things that have stayed constant are his cute little smile and charming personality.

What do you do for a little guy that turns one? Cake and balloons of course. Mom and Dad decided that it would be fun to have a cake smash. What kid wouldn't like to tear into a sweet yummy treat, right? Well ... the exception would be this little man. He took one look at the yellow frosted, blue speckled cake and took off crawling back into his grandma's  kitchen where he would much rather play around the tupperware! The scene was hilarious. Here were five adults all trying to convince a one year old to eat cake, but he was not easily persuaded. Finally after some time helping him taste the cake, he seemed to only take a few bites for the adults sake, so mom and dad decided to bring in reinforcement- CHICKEN! Yup, that's right. They placed some chicken pieces in the cake so that he would eat a bit of it for the photos. Guess we should've had the cake made out of chicken and mashed potatoes. All in all, it was both a fun and bitter sweet. We all didn't think his one year session would come so quickly. Time flies when you are chasing after cuteness.

Overall it has been a great experience to capture this wonderful family's first year journey.  I feel so incredibly honored to have been able to be a part of his first year of life in a small way. I think he's officially used to seeing the "lady with the big camera". The great thing is that our partnership won't stop here, as Little Man D is going to be a Big Brother soon! Thank you Michelle and Mike for this wonderful experience. I've loved every moment of it. Looking forward to the future ones!

Baby DJ turns 6 months

Seriously! Where does the time go?! One minute I'm doing Baby DJ's newborn session, the next minute I'm shooting his 6 month old session. Shesh! Someone press the pause button. I'm sure mom and dad would agree that time sure has been passing by too quickly.

It's been such a neat experience capturing these tender milestones for Michelle & Mike and their adorable little guy who just lights up my screen after every session. Doesn't he have the most charming little smile ever?! He's been like the perfect and easiest baby model, even as he continues to grow.  Even at his last session, he was smiley and giggly (thanks to mom & dad's funny noises and chicken- you had to be there). Wonder what's next for his big 0-1 in August. At this rate, I'm totally willing to be patient for that time to come, so his family can fully enjoy him at this stage in his fun little life.

The Herrera Family Turns 3

What makes a photographer happy, besides beautiful golden lighting and picturesque settings? Having past clients (and close family friends) call you again for their yearly family photo shoot! I had the honor of capturing the Herrera's the first time last Christmas. It's one of the best feelings knowing that I've been able to give the family more than just a few photos, but rather capture their family memories and freeze them to be remembered forever. I've known the family for over 5 years now. Veronica and I started off as coworkers, then friends and that later blossomed into a genuine sisterhood of sorts. They are such a down to earth family who spread joy, warmth and generosity to all. They have such giving hearts and show such kindness to all of those around them. My spouse and I are very lucky to have them in our lives. Thank you Herrera Family!

M&M + Baby DJ

About a week ago, I had the pleasure and honor of photographing Michelle & Mike's adorably handsome little guy for the first time. This is their first human baby, as they have 2 four-legged babies at home, Lucy & Dexter, a pair of Basenji's.  The family had to wait an extra week past his delivery due date just to see him. Docs decided it was time to evict him from his warm, snuggly home (true story as told by his parents).  The waiting game was totally worth it. I was lucky enough to finally meet him in person.  What is it with babies with all they're cute, tiny little features that make them so adorable! He is so sweet, and was so patient with us as we moved him around, changed his outfits and hovered around him with my giant camera. Lucky for us all, we had backup from Grandma R. who seemed to have some extra magic touches when it came to rocking him back to sleep. I hope the next time I photograph other newborns that they're just as patient as baby DJ was and I might just have to hire Grandma R. as my newborn assistant.

Thanks again Michelle and Mike for the honor of taking Baby DJ's debut photos. It was so much fun and quite the experience I'll always remember!
